The Schaefer Center has a range of programs to help early- and mid-career individuals with building their skills to better serve state residents or specific populations. Programs vary from one-day training programs to multi-week residential programs.

The Schaefer Center recently launched the nationally accredited Maryland Certified Public Manager© Program available to government and nonprofit managers across Maryland. Download a PDF brochure. The Schaefer Center is an accredited member in the National Certified Public Manager® Consortium and as such, has the exclusive authorization to develop and deliver the program in Maryland. This program is a 300 hour, continuing education program that offers participants the opportunity to learn and practice the critical leadership skills and competencies necessary to effectively meet the complex demands of the 21st century public service environment. It is taught by University of Baltimore faculty and practitioners and organized around seven core competencies. Together with the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights, the Schaefer Center offers the Maryland Equity and Inclusion Leadership Program.
